It’s been a fairly mundane week so far. Monday we went to school, took a nap and then I cooked supper! Boy, that sure is a feat in our modest kitchen and with the slight difference in the availability of foods that I an accustomed to purchasing. Since ground beef is slightly less safe here in Peru, we mostly use chicken for our meals. Liz and I decided that we’d like to eat spaghetti, so we did so with boiled chicken! I boiled the chicken in a pot and while that was cooking, sautéed some onions and boiled the noodles. When that was almost done, I put in four bags, yes BAGS, of tomato sauce in a pot with the onions, some oregano, salt and pepper. Spaghetti sauce is available here, but it’s so expensive that most people make their own. When everything was ready, I put it all in one pot with two chopped red bell peppers and let it simmer for a few minutes. It was quite delicious, I must say! All that it was missing was parmesan which I’ve been unable to find in the stores. I’m going to keep looking for next time.
Tuesday started off the same way; we went to school and then came home to rest for a bit. Then we went to ICPNA at La Molina for the final conversation club of this session. We had a great turnout again and are hoping that people from the club come to our Saturday Bible study as well as the new one we’re having on Thursdays. Starting a new Thursday Bible study is going to require quite a bit of faith that God will bring people to learn about His word. Since this week will be the first one, I’m a little apprehensive but also very excited! Pray that God will use this time to bring in new people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend the Saturday Bible study. Pray that God will open their hearts and make them receptive to His word and the love that and salvation that He longs to share with everyone here on earth.
Sometimes it can be hard to remember that even if we aren’t seeing radical transformations in the lives we are touching, that we may just be here to plant the seed of faith in the lives of those who are placed in our paths. My dad loves to remind me of this, that we should always be ready with our seeds of faith so that we don’t miss an opportunity. Una semilla de fe es todo. . .
“Who do you think Paul is, anyway? Or Apollos, for that matter? Servants, both of us—servants who waited on you as you gradually learned to entrust your lives to our mutual Master. We each carried out our servant assignment. I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow. It's not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of this process but God, who makes things grow. Planting and watering are menial servant jobs at minimum wages. What makes them worth doing is the God we are serving. You happen to be God's field in which we are working.” 1 Corinthians 3:5-9
Ok. That’s all for now!! Thanks for reading and have a great week, amigos!!
